haha.. i shall join in the fun too. thanks christina for the 'feel'. hahaha..
Each player of this game starts off by giving 6 weird things about themselves. People who get tagged need to write in a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. After you do that, leave them each a comment letting them know you tagged them and to read your blog.
6 weird things about myself.. i probably can name u a whole lot more!
1. i am an absent minded klutz. seriously, i don't think u can find anyone more clumsy than me. haha, i dropped my file 3x today and i misplaced my id cards (both hospital & uni), thumb drive, wallet, phone even! all in 3 days.. i think one day i might even forget where i left my mind too..
2. i must have a mint at all times. i'll feel weird without it. that IS weird right.
3. i love candles. not that i use them. even when there's blackouts, i refuse to let my mom touch my candles..
4. i'm a tasmanian devil in disguise. i can clean and arrange the stuffs in my room, all nice and neat, within 5 minutes, everything will be all over the place again.
5. i have a bottomless (i eat a LOT), noisy (and still always hungry) and percussible (but yet empty) tummy o_O
6. i like white roses although mom always say white flowers are for 'other' stuffs. i used to buy them a lot when i was in s'pore. haha.. just to cheer myself up :)
6 people i'll tag..
1. ivy ang ang ang (cos she's my daughter!)
2. gary 'tweety' chia (cos he's my son!)
3. cyin ('IN' with a blog)
4. evie (the other 'IN' with a blog)
5. jackjack (this should cheer ur blog up a bit :P)
6. yeangwee (same specs!!)
tag, u're iT!

i wish a hole would swallow me up!
today ah. so embarassing ah.. :-( we went for morning handover (where drs from night shift handover new cases to those in the morning shift). then ah!!! there's this interesting ecg case presented.. so i made a mental note to ask the dr if i can have a look at it after the meeting and proceeded to be a good medical student and concentrate on the following cases. so there were a couple of x-rays shown.. and ended at that.. having chest x-ray as the last picture in my mind. so the chest x-ray + the mental note to see the ecg somehow got integrated.. and u know what i did? i approached the dr and said..
"can i have a look at the x-ray please?" while jabbing furiously at the ecg sheet.
then the dr look at me with his brows raised.. "x-ray?"
then i said, "yeah x-ray" (is that so difficult to understand?? weird)
he looked at me, "i think u mean ecg right?"
i turned the shade of beet root red and muttered "oops sorry" and wish a hole would just swallow me up! -_-"
and then, when i went up to my unit.. after awhile the SAME dr came too, to ask my registrar some qns.. he looked at me and laughed (in a snorty way) . malu-nya..........
it's all the coffee's fault! :/ had a late night yesterday, so i decided to have a cup of coffee, anyway, i felt hungry too, so i thought it shld keep me full for awhile. but it ended up making me light headed, anxious and heart beating @ 120bpm. but the coffee was good, heh.. :D
but yup, this week has been really good i must say. i'm enjoying every moment of it. yea! and of course, the weekend's coming.. woohoo..

here's to a better week :) *cheers*
hey guys.. thank u all for ur concern.. *sobs* so touched. hehe.. i definitely feel much better now! and things have taken a better turn! (i reckon it was my PMS period last week, so a little bit emotional) familiarizing with the environment also helped :)
Anyway, guess what? i got to do my first GelCo today! (it's a brand name for IV cannula, those that u use for drips) i inserted it at first try! so so so happy.. yay! yesterday and today has been quite fruitful and productive. really glad that all my "cries" & "prayers" were answered over the weekend. God is right when He said He'll see me through it :)
today i met this dr. we had him for a neurological examination session. he is, by far, the kindest, most compassionate, respectful, humble, patient, encouraging, and on top of that, knowledgeable dr i've ever seen. no kidding.. just observing as he explained to the patient and reassured the patient, even i felt like crying.. *sniff* that's the kind of dr i wanna be.. thank God for such wonderful drs.
i'm inspired to study harder, to be the person that God wants me to be. yes!

the weekend's here!!!!
the feeling of homesickness & missing the familiar faces, settings and environment only settled in this week. despite the busy schedules that they've put us in, i somehow found time to feel "detached" and "alone" from all the activities that we have. it's like i am, but i'm not? *sigh*
anyway, clinical school is NO JOKE.. i have a slight wave of regret for not studying harder, for all the exams i've passed, God has been more than good to me, it's GRACE! because coming here, i realize how much i actually don't know OR don't remember!
how embarassing it is to stare at bck at the consultant with a blank face (& even worse, with no answer).
or to think that i have no problems with english, but everything i say just doesn't seem to come out right(i still tend to 'lah' and get a considerable amount of weird stares), and i try to listen so hard to filter their sentences that i forget the real meaning of it (eg. what are the common causes for iron def.? and i thought iodine.. what are the signs of cardiac failure? and i answer dyspnoea, which happens to be a SYMPTOM! -_-") to feel fake when i speak with an accent, but really dumb if i continue with my 'lahs'.
to wake up really early in the morning, and sleep early..
to STUDY! in between sessions and after dinner.
to be confident,
to get the doctors to notice you so that you get a good assessment.
to be able to do all the system's FULL examination in 6 mins/each.
to be posted in the cardiology unit BUT have to learn all the other 9 systems. it doesn't help that most ppl tell me how scary my professor is (who happens to be assessing me)
it doesn't help that i tend to be "sympathetic" rather than "empathetic" to my patients, being rather emotionally attached. i feel bad, when we see the patient 3x just because we're 'eager' medical students who wants to see campbell de morgan spots, or finger clubbing, or hear a cardiac murmur, or a wheeze. or hunt down interns so that they'll teach us how to put a cannula in, or draw blood, or do a blood gas just so we can learn, but jabbing patients a few times, causing such a huge bruise, it pains me. i just can't do it! but then again, if we don't practice, we won't learn!
i'm STRESSED!!!!
and then, i realize that all i've been trying to do is to please ppl, to live up to their standards, feelings of inadequacy (trust me, the doctors ask a whole lot of questions that you've never heard of and u just wish a hole will swallow u up!) especially even more when we're entering halfway through the course. it's a challenge. i know the feeling, i've felt it before when i joined a levels in s'pore abt 5 mths after they started.
and God impressed upon me, the only person u have to please is Me. i've brought u through all the stages of your life, would i not do the same again this time? and that's right. why am i being so bogged down, when i shld be victorious because God is in control. it was only today, that i really unloaded my "luggages" of stress and worries. 1 Peter 5:7
and now that the weekend's here, i'm gonna buy myself a pair of good & comfy shoes (way overdue) maybe go for a picnic at the park, and visit another church this weekend. and of course.. study! ;)
p/s: there's a good clause abt my professor, he likes research students, and he happens to be my supervisor *phew*

2 more days to QEH
QEH stands for Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The thought of starting my clinical years scares me! Especially when you find out how independent you have to be. And that you're entering halfway, having to try to fit in, but at the same time work hard. Hm, but God is the strength of my heart. He has brought me through sooo many things, He'll bring me through this one.
INs are friends forever :D

I actually made a lab coat (only to find out that we're actually gonna use a clinical coat! Which is half the length, and long-sleeved!!!) why oh why.. IMU uses a long white coats when they're actually for CONSULTANTS! i.e. if i wear a long coat to any hospital here, i'll either be FRIED by the consultants or mistaken as a consultant. i don't know which is worse! -_-"
out of the many postings.. most of us are placed together! yes! for the individual attachments, me & chris (only both of us!) actually ended up in the same course - medical oncology! how cool is that? but the other one.. psychiatry in LMHS (which happens to be the furthest hospital from adelaide city) is only ME!!! as in, me, one person from the entire year 4 co-hort. boo-hoo-hoo.. i pray i'll find a friend who drives and can send me there for the 3 week period.
here are more pictures! that we took pre-departure (erm, i actually JUST found out that i can post a picture directly from blogger and don't need a host like picasa.. told you i'm a computer illiterate! : / *sigh*)
INs are friends forever :D
me & the guys! dailow-dailows sekalian ;)
just looking at the pics make me miss all of you soo soo much! i should be getting my internet by this thursday/friday! i'll go online more often! ;)

a stroll into hong fat
what is hong fat?
hong fat is this chinese restaurant in chinatown, adelaide.
why a stroll?
because christine lost the poker game.. (gambling is BAD!!although it's just sudoku tiles because villaageverynicehowmuch mates come up with evil dares like these >_<)hahaha.. actually, it wasn't all THAT bad. i had to circle around the shop without buying anything/say anything.. just walk in & out. i was quite sure i had a few stares and the owner might just ban this "weird" lady from eating at his shop in the future :P
so.. SAY NO to gambling, unless it's with the villaageverynicehowmuch mates.. cos.. we get to learn interesting stuffs about other ppl.. like if a certain someone.. is.. ahem.. with someone. hahaha.. go figure :P
since we kinda said "no" to gambling.. (for the mean time) we started a SIMS family.. villaageverynicehowmuch family.. which consists of:
1) Chris
2) me
3) Steph (normal members)
4) Rahul Karap s/o Botok
5) Chelsie the Gamblar
6) Su "5 Tollar" Chuen
hahahahahhahahahahaha.......

winter in summer
the weather here's a bit cuck-oo! it's like soooo cold today :s we had to wear jackets during summer. can u imagine??!! haha, anyway, today we had dinner quite late, cos when everyone came bck, all went straight to bed!
so, today chris was the "official" cook. for frozen pizzas and frozen garlic bread. it went something like this...
8.45 pm
my phone rings.. *ring ring*
me: hello?
chris: hey dear, are u guys awake yet? wanna eat?
me: i think steph's still in her room..
chris: nvm, i'm coming over now to help u girls cook..
8.50 pm
*rap-a-tap-tap*
chris: here comes the cook! (he meant himself)
me: *pre-heating oven and removes cling wrap*
chris: ok let's get started. hmm, let's see, preheat oven and remove wrap.
me: done
chris: ??!!
*regains composure*
ok, now put pizza into oven for 15 mins.
me, chuen, rahul, shiau cern, steph: wow......
chris: i know, i know, i'm indispensable :P
chuen: eh, i want the pizza to come out looking like the one on the box ah!
chris: -_-"
cut the long story short, it was a delicious frozen food dinner. cheap too! only AUD1.05 per person :D
9.15 pm
rahul goes bck to take GARRICK's pack of cards (oh btw, Garrick is Chuen's new obsession, who happens to be chris' and rahul's housemate whom we ALL have not met before. haha!!)
rahul teaches us how to play "texas hold-up" like in casino royale..
it's quite fun. because i wON! hahahha...
we started with grapes as our bets. but we couldn't really tell who won/lost BECAUSE we kept eating the grapes! -_-" on top of that, no one takes the grapes seriously, esp shiau cern, and she kept saying "it's JUST grapes!" wahaha.. so we thought of other alternatives like SHAPES, PODS and finally settled on sudoku tiles! hahaha!!! i ended up with 51/81 tiles. hmm, i shld give genting a try eh? win some from uncle lim. hahaha... just kiddin! oh yeah oh yeah.. the point of the game IS...... to decide who cooks dinner and who washes up! woohoo.. so, chuen cooks dinner tmr and chris does the dishes. watch out, there are so many sly players lurking arnd :P haha.. but all in good fun!

hello-i (in a very Australian accent) - Part 1
ask rahul how he does it, i intend to take australian slang tuition from him every night during dinner time.
anyway, i'm in adelaide!! the very fact that i'm here, is truly by God's grace! i actually passed my sem 5 exams!!!!! with grades that is obviously impossible for me to get. but yup, thks Chris, WH for reminding me that God specializes in the IMPOSSIBLE
1) because i started studying so late (december was a super busy month)
2) i had to worry about stuffs like visa, offer letter, letter of good conduct in the midst of my exams!
3) i skipped BS, embryology, some clinical notes altogether! can u imagine?!
so i really PRAISE God for that! and my miracle's just one of it. Chuen got her VISA on Monday itself!!! is that God or what?? SO here we are, 6 villagers happily in adelaide now :)
to those whom i didn't get a chance to inform, i deeply apologize, i flew on monday night 9.45pm. to those who came to send us off, thank you so much, i'm so touched. actually i told myself not to CRY already!! (because the whole of sunday dunno cry how many times -_-") but i couldn't help it. and to those who msged/called me, thank you soo much!! and the presents, they were really really nice.. i read the msges also i cry! now that i'm here already, it's all still trying to sink in that i'm actually no longer in malaysia, everything just happened so fast!
but yup, first day was REALLY REALLY hot. 40 deg celcius!!! and considering we just arrived, it was quite torturous! to register for our accomodation, university, and still buy groceries otherwise we'll be without dinner! and guess what happened on the first day? my baggage lock combination was changed!!! argh!!! i was so super irritated, cos all my stuffs were inside, and i couldn't change/bathe/do anything! i even had to borrow chuen's clothes :s so.. me & my new hsemates decided to go on "shifts" and figure out the combination. eg.
me 000-250
shiau cern 251-500

and yup, thank GOD for His amazing grace.. at 671 (Chuen's shift) it unlocked! thank God for housemates too!
the place we're staying in is really nice! but they're so strict. it makes us paranoid! hahaha.. it's like, don't touch the wall! don't spill ur drinks on the table. careful!!!! the sofa. cos the guy who briefed us seriously freaked us out!
Mr. S: u cannot stick anything on the wall, if we find any stains on it..
Us: *gulp*
Mr. S: we'll charge u for it. oh yeah, and don't iron on the carpet please! the previous student had to pay 600 to replace the carpet.
Us: *mouths wide opened*
Mr. S: and make sure u keep the place clean ok! we do spot checks.
Me: erm.. how often? what happens if it's not up to ur expectations?
Mr. S: well, it depends.. and if it's NOT up to OUR expectations.... we'll send the cleaners in
Me: *phew* (isn't that good?)
Mr. S: but we'll CHARGE you for it.
Us: ??!!!!
so ever since, we kept using the phrase "they'll charge us for it"!!
anyway, i'm in adelaide!! the very fact that i'm here, is truly by God's grace! i actually passed my sem 5 exams!!!!! with grades that is obviously impossible for me to get. but yup, thks Chris, WH for reminding me that God specializes in the IMPOSSIBLE
40 deg celcius!!! and considering we just arrived, it was quite torturous! to register for our accomodation, university, and still buy groceries otherwise we'll be without dinner! and guess what happened on the first day? my baggage lock combination was changed!!! argh!!! i was so super irritated, cos all my stuffs were inside, and i couldn't change/bathe/do anything! i even had to borrow chuen's clothes :s so.. me & my new hsemates decided to go on "shifts" and figure out the combination. eg.

God is GOOD!
Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
~Psalm 145:3~
God has never failed to speak through my very own blog's daily wisdom. HIS GREATNESS no one can fathom. really, infathomable, one day i'm sobbing away after the paper. and i thought it was the end of the world. BUT I passed my exams!!! I passed EOS 5! woooohooooooooooooooooooooooooo... I can go to adelaide! I can go to clinical school!
Thank You Jesus. And to all who endured my moody-ness, thank you as well! :)
and i must apologize to those who sent me smses but receives very much delayed replies. i've been most of the time on the road. and i keep putting it to the end of the day before i reply. it doesn't mean i'm heartless OK!:)
and congrats to the rest of my batch! no one's on the VIVA list. yes!

what a productive day!
weee... firstly i woke up at 8 am! ah, i guess over past few weeks i've been "trained" to wake up early.. hehe.. but yeah, it's my very first time being able to sleep in after a long long time, so.. *plop* went bck to bed again. muahaha!! didn't last for long though, finally decided to get out of bed at 9.30 a.m. was on the phone with dear for awhile (who also woke up early!) haha..
that was just introduction. not exactly the productive part of my day :p now it starts! me & my parents went to get the bank draft done for my accomodation. a little bit of running arnd, see which bank has the lowest rates, finally had a pretty good deal. so thank God for that :D we had lunch soon after picking up neuman (there'll be a section attributed to him soon) and we went grocery shopping.. hohoho.. i'm having "kiam chai t'ng" tonight! yummy, my favourite.. *cephalic phase* and 'sun bin' bought some of my adelaide groceries (which, err.. consists of 4 different types of instant noodles! haha!! some 6 packs of nasi goreng perencah, toothpaste, shower foam) will soon add bak kut teh, herbal soup, babas curry into my trolley in the nxt few days!
so now that's done, we went to get my international driving license done.. which was very efficient *shock* (i got quite err, disappointed over govt svcs recently so THIS is a pleasant surprise!) and then.. i made a new white coat - short sleeve. wahaha!! no more IMU long sleeve, ugly, hot, thick, ugly, LONG SLEEVED (oh did i mention ugly?) lab coat. YES! and now i'm bck helping mom with dinner, everything's in the pot already, just have to wait for it to cook! oh dinner's ready! ta!
