Destined to Reign

going through this period of time where everything seems to crumble before my very eyes, this book proved to be a blessing to me. it challenged a paradigm shift in my belief system.. initially, i was cautious, as many people warned that it preached "controversial grace". but guess what? the good news couldn't have been better :) thumbs up to a revelationary book - Destined To Reign. Pastor Joseph Prince writes just as if he is speaking. you'll know what i mean once you've read it.. in fact, he'll be the key speaker at Paradise's Influencers Conference this year. i wish i could be there. it starts tmr!!! 14-17th January. Don't miss it!

despite all, i know this year will be a good year. it'll be a God year :) we are Destined to Reign.

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12

wow huh? wow...

sorry christine to be a spoil sport.. :)
i've read the book as well and while I think there's a lot we can learn about how great God's grace has been in sending Jesus to us and God's wonderful providence of his new covenent of grace, I cannot agree completly with JP.

I think, what about the persecuted Christians and churches who die for the cross? Aren't they "destined to reign as well?"

And I think he side stepped a lot of questions in his book and blanket it all by saying God can do all things.

Sorry for this comment.
I just feel a need to write this because I used to be or think nothing bad can ever happen.

Of course, I don't know JP and only read 1 book, so mayb he does preach about the other aspects of the cross...

Just my 2 cents

it's ok sarah! :) comments are good. don't say sorry! everyone is entitled to their opinions.

i was initially a skeptic myself. i've heard him preach countless times, from which i had many unanswered questions. this book provided me with an insight that changed that.

what convicted me was, indeed what he preach is based on the finished work of the cross, and according to His word. not because he preached it.

paul a preacher of grace, died as a martyr too. bad things happen, it is difficult to comprehend.

he doesn't teach that life is a bed of roses, but when it does happen, it doesn't mean it's because of something u've done, or God is judging you. which i believe many people still think that way, including myself.

although i conclude it a good read, i would like to test it out myself. for God has asked us to test and discern. i'm going through a rough patch now, which with my own strength i cannot change. i've come to a dead end where i look to His grace to see me through.

i appreciate your views sarah :) we can learn from each other.

yea i do agree with this book with almost 90% of what he says
and yea that bad circumstances are not necessarily because of our guilt.

it's just the JP writes specific examples/promises that if u claim and live under the covenant of grace, nothing bad will ever happen

esp for example the example about the plagues of Egypt. That God protected his children from the plagues and so thus, we will be protected from bird flu
(specific example mentioned in his book) and that our business will not flounder.

I just think, then what about the singaporean pastor who died of SARS because he visited the SARS patient?

And yea, just uneasy that he doesn't talk about the full picture, what happen to paul in the end etc..
That yes the work of the cross is finished. That we are saved and chosen, special and covered by his blood. But at the same time, while we are still living on this side of the earth we still have our cross to carry.

maybe this book is specific just to write about grace? and that he covers all this other issues in his normal sermons etc.

:)

but yea great material for discussion. ;)
