orang asli mission trip

i finally went for one! i really want to thank God for the opportunity..
despite everything that happens. hehe..

initially, it was excitement, then it was fear, than it was feelings of
inadequacy, AND then.. i got fed-up with the spiritual warfare that
the devil was giving me, i was almost ready to tell the rest i didn't
want to go on the eve. but God said, GO.. i went, boy i'm glad i did!!

it was truly a humbling experience.. i went with the expectancy to
"teach" & "give" but instead, i learned and received more than i
taught or gave. 5 things i especially want to praise God for:

1. my "spiritual warfare" ended the moment i decided to go, and the
devil knew he has lost the battle. indeed the battle belongs to the
Lord. there was peace in my home :-) that was my main worry!! i
couldn't sleep the whole wk before that!

2. i erm, actually left my i/c & driving licence behind. and by God's
amazing grace & intervention, the police raid was a few days before
we arrived at sg tekam, and even when we passed the police check
points, it was uneventful. thank you Jesus!! *phew*

3. i actually managed to speak in BM! on wed (the eve of the trip,
during practice, my BM was still like tersekat-sekat but amazingly,
as i led praise and gave the testimony, and prayed in BM words
just came.. God you're really really amazing!!!)

not to mention, we had to conduct the women's ministry impromptu.
true challenge but God pulled us through.

but i must say the kids there are really intelligent! u just have to
teach them once and they immediately know how!!

4. we prayed and sang songs for 6 hours!!! i don't think i prayed
beyond 15 minutes before -_-" when pastor paul chen reminded
us of the importance of prayer during the journey and said we MUST
pray throughout, i was like.. ha??!! i thought i could sleep (cause the
journey started @ 6 am) but you know what, i actually stayed
awake throughout the journey, and prayed.. prayed for people along
the way, prayed for the jehais and prayed for the journey. it has
got to be the Holy Spirit!

5. i managed to sleep on the wooden floor, bathe in the river, eat
kijang & wild boar & fish from the river that touched every possible
rock/ground possible (which we stepped on), had my first leech bite,
failed constipating, went jungle trekking (not those with proper tracks)
and i survived! without diarrhoea.. without suffering from any injury!!
God protects ;-)

and so many many more things.. it was indeed an experience i'll never
forget, and it really taught me to count my blessings.. it taught me
patience, it taught me how to love people without conditions..

i truly admire Pastor Henry, Ibu Jenni and Roby for leaving the comforts
of their home in Sabah, their family, to come here and care for the Jehais
& Tomyas although it may not be appreciated much by the people here.
They still persevered cos they know they're doing it for God and not man.
i was truly encouraged by Pastor's fervour to preach, and conduct the
service although most of them don't understand. Ibu Jenni's love for the
women and children for teaching them how to write and colour when
they sometimes just stare blankly/smile at u when u ask them something.
it isn't easy.. unlike us who just stay there for a few days.

this is gonna be a long post.. haha.. but i can't help but just praise Jesus
again and again!!

anyway, these are the prayer items that Pastor Henry required us to
pray for..

1. 2 sewing machines and one blackboard
2. flatten the land so that they can build proper houses, and plant crops
3. Pastor Henry & family, safety, protection because they receive threats
from the authorities.. I claim the verse "I will build My church and the
gates of hell shall not prevail"
4. Communicate and to learn the Jehai and Tomya's lifestyle so that he
can be effective in his ministry.
5. More pastors/church workers to be sent to the other 3 villages
6. Ibu Jenni and Asmah as they educate the women and children
7. The next group going 31st august 2006
8. Jehais & Tomyas that they'll be more receptive, healthy, receive
education

indeed i've had fun, more importantly, God has been very good. I could
see Him in action.. it truly is amazing!! Hallelujah!
