mount kinabalu *cheer*
12 of us! relatively kiasu ppl.. haha.. chose to take the mersilau
trail (even the officer said goodluck) known to be the harder &
longer route to reach laban rata. yea.. it wasn't easy k. 10 mins
of climbing & i was already panting like mad!!!! serious.. but haha.
all glory to God! i thought i was gonna take like 12 hrs. or reach
there @ night while everyone's had their dinner & preparing for
bed. but we managed to reach laban rata in abt 7+ hrs. which is
slightly less than the average 8 hrs! hehehe.. yay!!
our champion was chee (with a sprained ankle, still so fast -_-")
followed by benedict.. so fast until both of them right.. can come
bck down to help slow coaches like me to carry stuffs up. haha!!
the journey up was really nice! (that's the thing abt mersilau)
it's scenic.. reminds me of the sound of music... & also those
nursery rhymes kinda setting. very nice la!! :D we even saw
pitcher plants! huge ones.. n ate raspberries along the way..
yummY!
we stayed the night at laban rata (really cold k!!!! 5 layers of
clothing & still shivering beneath the sheets).. n guess what...
it started to rain!!!!! *sigh* we were suppose to leave @ 2 am
to hike to the peak.. but the guides advised us against it.
5 guys still tried but it was too dangerous.. they had to turn
bck eventually.. sooooo.. we all ended up with a black & white
cert instead of a coloured one! we all vowed to come bck
on 6 march 2007 to complete our climb, haha!!
disappointed but peaceful abt it. i knew God had a purpose for
the weather. i mean, it was a dry season, it shldn't have rained.
God must've protected us from something :)
if it weren't for the amount of work done against gravity &
friction, i don't think any other activity can justify the amount
of chocolate bars, sweets & sweet drinks we took during the
climb. talk abt sinful!!!! *ish*
most of all.. i really wanna thank chris for being such a darling
& great companion! i would not have reached laban rata without
u (not to mention bck to timpohon gate also) *hugs* u're the best!
