2 more days to QEH

QEH stands for Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The thought of starting my clinical years scares me! Especially when you find out how independent you have to be. And that you're entering halfway, having to try to fit in, but at the same time work hard. Hm, but God is the strength of my heart. He has brought me through sooo many things, He'll bring me through this one.

I actually made a lab coat (only to find out that we're actually gonna use a clinical coat! Which is half the length, and long-sleeved!!!) why oh why.. IMU uses a long white coats when they're actually for CONSULTANTS! i.e. if i wear a long coat to any hospital here, i'll either be FRIED by the consultants or mistaken as a consultant. i don't know which is worse! -_-"

out of the many postings.. most of us are placed together! yes! for the individual attachments, me & chris (only both of us!) actually ended up in the same course - medical oncology! how cool is that? but the other one.. psychiatry in LMHS (which happens to be the furthest hospital from adelaide city) is only ME!!! as in, me, one person from the entire year 4 co-hort. boo-hoo-hoo.. i pray i'll find a friend who drives and can send me there for the 3 week period.

here are more pictures! that we took pre-departure (erm, i actually JUST found out that i can post a picture directly from blogger and don't need a host like picasa.. told you i'm a computer illiterate! : / *sigh*)

me & my family :)

INs are friends forever :D

me & the guys! dailow-dailows sekalian ;)
just looking at the pics make me miss all of you soo soo much! i should be getting my internet by this thursday/friday! i'll go online more often! ;)

a stroll into hong fat

what is hong fat?
hong fat is this chinese restaurant in chinatown, adelaide.

why a stroll?
because christine lost the poker game.. (gambling is BAD!!although it's just sudoku tiles because villaageverynicehowmuch mates come up with evil dares like these >_<)hahaha.. actually, it wasn't all THAT bad. i had to circle around the shop without buying anything/say anything.. just walk in & out. i was quite sure i had a few stares and the owner might just ban this "weird" lady from eating at his shop in the future :P

so.. SAY NO to gambling, unless it's with the villaageverynicehowmuch mates.. cos.. we get to learn interesting stuffs about other ppl.. like if a certain someone.. is.. ahem.. with someone. hahaha.. go figure :P

since we kinda said "no" to gambling.. (for the mean time) we started a SIMS family.. villaageverynicehowmuch family.. which consists of:
1) Chris
2) me
3) Steph (normal members)
4) Rahul Karap s/o Botok
5) Chelsie the Gamblar
6) Su "5 Tollar" Chuen

hahahahahhahahahahaha.......

winter in summer

the weather here's a bit cuck-oo! it's like soooo cold today :s we had to wear jackets during summer. can u imagine??!! haha, anyway, today we had dinner quite late, cos when everyone came bck, all went straight to bed!

so, today chris was the "official" cook. for frozen pizzas and frozen garlic bread. it went something like this...

8.45 pm
my phone rings.. *ring ring*
me: hello?
chris: hey dear, are u guys awake yet? wanna eat?
me: i think steph's still in her room..
chris: nvm, i'm coming over now to help u girls cook..

8.50 pm
*rap-a-tap-tap*
chris: here comes the cook! (he meant himself)
me: *pre-heating oven and removes cling wrap*
chris: ok let's get started. hmm, let's see, preheat oven and remove wrap.
me: done
chris: ??!!
*regains composure*
ok, now put pizza into oven for 15 mins.
me, chuen, rahul, shiau cern, steph: wow......
chris: i know, i know, i'm indispensable :P
chuen: eh, i want the pizza to come out looking like the one on the box ah!
chris: -_-"

cut the long story short, it was a delicious frozen food dinner. cheap too! only AUD1.05 per person :D

9.15 pm
rahul goes bck to take GARRICK's pack of cards (oh btw, Garrick is Chuen's new obsession, who happens to be chris' and rahul's housemate whom we ALL have not met before. haha!!)

rahul teaches us how to play "texas hold-up" like in casino royale..
it's quite fun. because i wON! hahahha...

we started with grapes as our bets. but we couldn't really tell who won/lost BECAUSE we kept eating the grapes! -_-" on top of that, no one takes the grapes seriously, esp shiau cern, and she kept saying "it's JUST grapes!" wahaha.. so we thought of other alternatives like SHAPES, PODS and finally settled on sudoku tiles! hahaha!!! i ended up with 51/81 tiles. hmm, i shld give genting a try eh? win some from uncle lim. hahaha... just kiddin! oh yeah oh yeah.. the point of the game IS...... to decide who cooks dinner and who washes up! woohoo.. so, chuen cooks dinner tmr and chris does the dishes. watch out, there are so many sly players lurking arnd :P haha.. but all in good fun!

hello-i Part 2 - 10 things I miss about Malaysia, 10 things about Adelaide that makes me feel better

10 things I miss about Malaysia.

1) My FAMILY, haven't stayed so FAR away from them before
2) INs* & housemates, u guys are the best!!!
3) METRO TAB
4) My FRIENDS! :S
5) My CAR *sniff*, i think i walked more than my semester 5 in IMU add together.
6) Shopping malls that open till 10 pm, they close at the wee hrs of 4 pm (when we just finish classes!!!)
7) FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.. *sobs* we don't get such GREAT food here unless we cook!
8) The MALAYSIAN RINGGIT! haha.. it's quite a torture to convert 2.8 each time.
9) well, i'll actually miss IMU (despite its inefficiency), I'll miss the ppl that's for sure! Esp CF!
10) YAMI yoghurt (ok fine, that's from s'pore :P, thank God Chuen introduced BOOST to replace YAMI.

Then I remember "Sound of Music" I simply remember my favourite things and then I don't feel so bad!!

haha.. so here's 10 things I like about Adelaide

1) The bus services here! it's FREE! (at least for the one that we take) and they're handicap friendly too. they actually tilt the bus, have an aisle for the wheelchair to role in.
2) friendly people. they actually greet u with HI or HOW ARE YOU? (nvm the fact that they don't really expect an answer, it just feels good) and end with, BYE SEE YOU LATER (although they're actually not planning to - or maybe because the city's soooo small (1km2) that they just expect to bump into u. haha!!)
3) fruits and vege are now my best friends, cos they're so cheap!
4) MY UNI! it's breathtakingly beautiful. and the stuffs we learned so far? good stuffs. i like the style.. very nice.. (borat style)
5) The VILLAGE! it's so nice and cosy and equipped!
6) The VILLAGERS! their presence makes it all easier to settle down..
7) The BANK! so friendly and efficient. best of all.. the interest rates are REALLY good!
8) I'm growing to like Rundle St. I foresee it'll be my favourite hangout.
9) the CITY. it's so orderly and arranged.. u won't get lost!
10) COLES.. the supermarket nearby. it's our lifesaver! haha.. opens from 12 am-9 pm.

hello-i (in a very Australian accent) - Part 1

ask rahul how he does it, i intend to take australian slang tuition from him every night during dinner time.

anyway, i'm in adelaide!! the very fact that i'm here, is truly by God's grace! i actually passed my sem 5 exams!!!!! with grades that is obviously impossible for me to get. but yup, thks Chris, WH for reminding me that God specializes in the IMPOSSIBLE

1) because i started studying so late (december was a super busy month)
2) i had to worry about stuffs like visa, offer letter, letter of good conduct in the midst of my exams!
3) i skipped BS, embryology, some clinical notes altogether! can u imagine?!

so i really PRAISE God for that! and my miracle's just one of it. Chuen got her VISA on Monday itself!!! is that God or what?? SO here we are, 6 villagers happily in adelaide now :)

to those whom i didn't get a chance to inform, i deeply apologize, i flew on monday night 9.45pm. to those who came to send us off, thank you so much, i'm so touched. actually i told myself not to CRY already!! (because the whole of sunday dunno cry how many times -_-") but i couldn't help it. and to those who msged/called me, thank you soo much!! and the presents, they were really really nice.. i read the msges also i cry! now that i'm here already, it's all still trying to sink in that i'm actually no longer in malaysia, everything just happened so fast!

but yup, first day was REALLY REALLY hot. 40 deg celcius!!! and considering we just arrived, it was quite torturous! to register for our accomodation, university, and still buy groceries otherwise we'll be without dinner! and guess what happened on the first day? my baggage lock combination was changed!!! argh!!! i was so super irritated, cos all my stuffs were inside, and i couldn't change/bathe/do anything! i even had to borrow chuen's clothes :s so.. me & my new hsemates decided to go on "shifts" and figure out the combination. eg.

me 000-250
shiau cern 251-500
su chuen 501-750
steph 751-999

and yup, thank GOD for His amazing grace.. at 671 (Chuen's shift) it unlocked! thank God for housemates too!

the place we're staying in is really nice! but they're so strict. it makes us paranoid! hahaha.. it's like, don't touch the wall! don't spill ur drinks on the table. careful!!!! the sofa. cos the guy who briefed us seriously freaked us out!

Mr. S: u cannot stick anything on the wall, if we find any stains on it..
Us: *gulp*
Mr. S: we'll charge u for it. oh yeah, and don't iron on the carpet please! the previous student had to pay 600 to replace the carpet.
Us: *mouths wide opened*
Mr. S: and make sure u keep the place clean ok! we do spot checks.
Me: erm.. how often? what happens if it's not up to ur expectations?
Mr. S: well, it depends.. and if it's NOT up to OUR expectations.... we'll send the cleaners in
Me: *phew* (isn't that good?)
Mr. S: but we'll CHARGE you for it.
Us: ??!!!!

so ever since, we kept using the phrase "they'll charge us for it"!!

God is GOOD!

Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
~Psalm 145:3~

God has never failed to speak through my very own blog's daily wisdom. HIS GREATNESS no one can fathom. really, infathomable, one day i'm sobbing away after the paper. and i thought it was the end of the world. BUT I passed my exams!!! I passed EOS 5! woooohooooooooooooooooooooooooo... I can go to adelaide! I can go to clinical school!

Thank You Jesus. And to all who endured my moody-ness, thank you as well! :)

and i must apologize to those who sent me smses but receives very much delayed replies. i've been most of the time on the road. and i keep putting it to the end of the day before i reply. it doesn't mean i'm heartless OK!:)

and congrats to the rest of my batch! no one's on the VIVA list. yes!

what a productive day!

weee... firstly i woke up at 8 am! ah, i guess over past few weeks i've been "trained" to wake up early.. hehe.. but yeah, it's my very first time being able to sleep in after a long long time, so.. *plop* went bck to bed again. muahaha!! didn't last for long though, finally decided to get out of bed at 9.30 a.m. was on the phone with dear for awhile (who also woke up early!) haha..

that was just introduction. not exactly the productive part of my day :p now it starts! me & my parents went to get the bank draft done for my accomodation. a little bit of running arnd, see which bank has the lowest rates, finally had a pretty good deal. so thank God for that :D we had lunch soon after picking up neuman (there'll be a section attributed to him soon) and we went grocery shopping.. hohoho.. i'm having "kiam chai t'ng" tonight! yummy, my favourite.. *cephalic phase* and 'sun bin' bought some of my adelaide groceries (which, err.. consists of 4 different types of instant noodles! haha!! some 6 packs of nasi goreng perencah, toothpaste, shower foam) will soon add bak kut teh, herbal soup, babas curry into my trolley in the nxt few days!

so now that's done, we went to get my international driving license done.. which was very efficient *shock* (i got quite err, disappointed over govt svcs recently so THIS is a pleasant surprise!) and then.. i made a new white coat - short sleeve. wahaha!! no more IMU long sleeve, ugly, hot, thick, ugly, LONG SLEEVED (oh did i mention ugly?) lab coat. YES! and now i'm bck helping mom with dinner, everything's in the pot already, just have to wait for it to cook! oh dinner's ready! ta!
